Take Back Your Life!

Be generous with your words!

July 22, 2009 by Giulietta Nardone

I try to leave at least 1 comment a day on someone else’s blog. Comments fire up the blog writer and they also fire up the blog commenter. I get all sorts of writing ideas from my own comments! In fact, I now regularly collect them for future writing or life shop use. Ideas for writing or life shops surround us. If you’re suffering from any kind of writer’s block it may be that you’ve closed off some part of yourself.

Open it up by going to someone else’s blog and leaving a comment where you can reflect on what this individual has said. I like to think of life as one giant energy ricochet with everyone’s energy pinging off each other.

Be open and you’ll receive all sorts of energizing ideas!

It is what it is

I never thought about becoming a professional blogger until I stumbled on the professional blogger web site. Always up for a new challenge, writing or otherwise, I immediately said, “yes, i’ll do it!” Now, I need to make sure my site is pro-blogger ready. (It isn’t.) Site has lots of good info.

Blogging is kind of like virtual journaling. I always had a tough time keeping a real journal because my handwriting takes a top CSI team to decipher. I don’t even know what I’ve written most of the time. In elementary school, the teachers put me in a remedial handwriting class where I had to spend my recess practicing writing gigantic vowels over and over. It didn’t help. My handwriting is what it is. We are what we are. It seems that we spend a lot of time and energy trying to become something we aren’t instead of celebrating who we are.

I’m a great writer with messy handwriting. Just another contradiction that makes me who I am.

Contradictions hold the keys to self discovery. That’s where you need to look to find the secret to your own life.

Getting Comments

July 7, 2009 by Giulietta Nardone

I’m past the 30 day blog challenge but am so used to blogging every day that I couldn’t help myself.

Today I’d like to talk comments. Those wonderful cyber interactions every blogger lives for! Getting comments on a blog means someone is reading what I’ve written and they’ve been moved enough to respond. When I blogged for Skirt! Magazine for a month a year ago, I sometimes felt like I was speaking to an empty theater when I only received a few comments. Going back to some of those blogs, I’ve noticed they now have a view count. It amazed me how many people had actually read my writings. Sometimes in the thousands.

As a fellow blogger said to me, most people will not leave a comment but it doesn’t mean no one is reading it.

Do I leave comments? Yes. I do it for two reasons. To let the blogger know I’ve enjoyed their post and to pay it forward. I hope they will come to my blog and leave a comment or other people leaving comments will come to my site.

Be generous and leave a comment on a blog today!

Thx,

G.

Being a muse to myself

May 5, 2009 by Giulietta Nardone

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the words of encouragement I so easily give to others, I need to give to myself too. How often do you stand in front of the mirror and say, “you can do it.” I’d love you to leave yourself some encouragement in the comment section.

Muse thx,

G.

Working on Giulietta

April 25, 2009 by Giulietta Nardone

Hey friends,

Getting Giulietta the Muse ready for cyber prime time. Lots of behind the scenes programming going on. When I originally designed the site, I did not account for the wider space need for archiving blog posts. Had to go back and fix it. Just another lesson to learn: re-engineer from the visual end!

Muse thanks,

Giulietta
