The Off Center For Wild & Disobedient Creativity
This group began in September 2011 to bring together kickass creatives from Ashland and bordering towns. The next economy will be creative. Let’s be ready for it! Our growing group (204 members as of today) attracts writers, painters, crafters, singers, musicians, photographers, inventors, poets, brainstormers, connectors, dancers, actors/actresses, film-makers, enthusiasts, etc.
We meet quarterly to share what we’re doing creativity wise and projects we can do to ignite creativity in our little area of the world. I send out a funky email every other week listing creative happenings in and around town. I encourage our members to send me upcoming events in the area and any creative economy programs they are offering. We need to stop the prevalent “Starving Artist” syndrome that’s been passed down through the years. Why can’t artists and creatives make money? We fill up on prescription meds to treat anxiety disorders from not living kick-ass lives and working at boring jobs. Why not just live kick ass lives and change the economy to one that encourages cool jobs?
New Event: Epipha “Me” Night, Wednesday, February 6th, 2013, 6:30 to 8:30. 54 Front Street, tall brick building next to the Ashland Public Library. Enter through The Red Dress.
The night will present an opportunity for folks in Ashland and the surroundings towns to get up for 2-5 minutes and share their ideas and potential solutions for a better or a more vibrant “fill-in-the-blank.” You can say it, sing it, act it out, mime it, poetry it, role-play it, guitar it. Good opportunity to meet other folks who want to make a difference in our local world.
No theme for the first night. Just freestyle creativity! For more information, contact Giulietta@giuliettathemuse.com. FREE.
And if you are not on our email list, please send me an email through the contact form.
Be wild and disobedient!
